I looked at exercise as a chore to pay off “sins” in the kitchen, and I looked at food as a temporary comfort or a source of stress. I was living in a cycle of trying to meet the world’s standards for my body, and frankly, I was exhausted.

But then, something shifted. They represent a total internal overhaul. When I stopped moving for my own vanity and started moving for God’s glory, the “work” became worship.

I realized that this body isn’t just a shell to be critiqued; it is a gift to be maintained so I can show up fully for the life I’ve been called to live.

What Changed?

The Intent: I traded “punishment” workouts for movement that celebrates what my body is capable of.

The Fuel: I stopped viewing food through the lens of restriction and started seeing it as the fuel required to do good work.

The Peace: By taking the focus off myself and putting it on my Creator, the anxiety around “dieting” disappeared.

Transformation is rarely about having more willpower; it’s about having a higher purpose. When you change the why, the how falls into place.

“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” — 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Ten weeks ago, I was in a completely different place—mentally, spiritually, and physically. It’s amazing how much can change when you decide to stop living by the world’s rules and start living for His glory.

Where do you want to be in 10 weeks?

Subscribe now

Today's Workout Sucked... Today was EMOM (Every Minute on the Minute) day, and I could only manage 30-second intervals instead of my usual 60. By the end of the workout, a run felt impossible, so I walked on the treadmill instead.

The old me would have been discouraged, frustrated, and felt like I was failing. But today, my first thought was: “I’m Luteal!” If you aren’t familiar with that term, let me explain. As women, we live in a monthly cycle consisting of four distinct phases. The Luteal Phase is the time between ovulation and the start of your period. Your physiological needs during this week are fundamentally different than they were just seven days ago.

This week, your body is naturally going to have a little less “umph” for your workout. That’s not a lack of willpower, it’s how you were designed!

The Hormonal Shift

During the Luteal phase, your estrogen levels drop and your progesterone levels rise. Progesterone’s primary role is to prepare your body for a potential pregnancy. Because growing a tiny human is an incredibly energy-intensive process, your body begins to shift how it manages its fuel.

<picture></picture>

<g>

</g><polyline points="15 3 21 3 21 9"></polyline><polyline points="9 21 3 21 3 15"></polyline><line x1="21" x2="14" y1="3" y2="10"></line><line x1="3" x2="10" y1="21" y2="14"></line>

The Kitchen Analogy

Think of your body’s energy like a kitchen. On the counter, you have Ready-to-Go Snacks (Quick Carbs/Glycogen). In the freezer, you have Bulk Frozen Food (Fat Stores).

In your Follicular Phase: Estrogen is the manager. It keeps the snacks right on the counter. When you do a high-intensity workout, your body grabs those snacks for instant energy. You feel fast and powerful.

In your Luteal Phase: Progesterone takes over. Progesterone is a hoarder, it wants to save those easy-access snacks for a potential “special guest” (the baby). It locks the snacks in a cupboard and tells your body, “You have to use the Frozen Food instead.”

The Impact on Your Workout

Because your body is now trying to “defrost” energy (burning fat) rather than grabbing it off the counter (burning carbs), high-intensity cardio feels much harder. This is why you might hit a wall sooner, feel more breathless, or find your heart rate spiking faster than usual.

The “defrosting” process also requires more energy from your body just to keep the lights on, which increases your metabolic rate. This is why you often feel hungrier the week before your period, your “inner kitchen” is working overtime!

The Silver Lining

While your sprint performance might dip, this shift makes your body more efficient at using fat for fuel. This makes the Luteal phase an amazing time for steady-state movement, like a long hike or a heavy lifting session with more rest.

In this week’s podcast episode, we’re diving deeper into how to eat and train with this shift instead of fighting against it. Stay tuned!

Never miss an article or an episode, subscribe below!
<p class="button-wrapper" of comparison and punishment. It’s a cycle designed to make you fail because it’s rooted in the enemy’s territory.

The World demands restriction; God provides nourishment.

The World thrives on “not enough”; God sees His masterpiece.

The World uses shame as a whip; God uses grace as a guide.

When you push your body past its breaking point or starve the very temple you’ve been given, you aren’t just dieting, you are waging war on God’s design. The enemy loves the burnout phase because he knows if he can keep you discouraged, he can keep you from your purpose. He wants you to believe that neglecting your body is your only option.

“Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?” 1 Corinthians 3:16

Trading Vanity for Glory

We live in a culture that idolizes the “perfect” image, an image that is often airbrushed, filtered, and entirely hollow. We have been conditioned to pursue weight loss for relevance and acceptance.

But vanity is a cruel master. It’s a finish line that keeps moving.

True transformation doesn’t start in the gym; it starts in the heart. It begins when you look in the mirror and realize that stewarding your health isn’t about fitting into a dress, it’s about being fit for the Kingdom. It’s about having the energy to serve your family, the longevity to see your grandchildren, and the clarity to hear God’s call.

The Renewal of the Mind

“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2).

This isn’t just a verse for your prayer life; it’s the blueprint for your health. When you stop asking, “How can I look like her?” and start asking, “God, how can I honor the temple You gave me?” everything changes. The burden of dieting falls away, replaced by the privilege of stewardship.

Will You Take the Leap?

The biggest hurdle isn’t the weight you want to lose, it’s the mindset you need to leave behind.

Today, you can choose to step out of the cycle of shame and into the light of grace. You aren’t just making a weight loss goal; you are making a commitment to God that you are ready to honor the life He breathed into you.

The journey ahead isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being His. When you align your health with His glory, the impossible becomes possible. Are you ready to stop fighting the battle alone and let Him lead the way?

Ready to Renew Your Mind And Your Routine?

If this message stirred your heart, don’t let the momentum stop at the end of this page. Saying “yes” to God is the first step; walking it out in the middle of laundry, toddler tantrums, and busy schedules is where the real work happens.

I created the Paid Membership to be your toolkit for that daily walk. Because Saturday was sold out, we decided to go to a Sunday afternoon showing. I had the tickets booked, the snacks pre-ordered, and the kids were buzzing.

But by Sunday night, I wasn’t buzzing. I was crashing.

The Slippery Slope

Sunday morning was a whirlwind. My daughter was involved in the church service, so we were out the door in a rush. I grabbed a Danish on the way out, hardly the fuel I needed. By the time the service ended, I was starving, so I reached for the cookies and squares at the coffee social.

Then came the theater. Popcorn, candy, more snacks.

None of these choices were honoring to my body. And let me tell you, I paid the price. By evening, I was tired, cranky, nauseous, and just ready for the day to end. As I took the dogs for their bedtime walk, I felt the physical weight of my choices. During that walk, I spent some time in prayer. I realized I had been ignoring my nutritional intuition for a few days, and Sunday was simply the breaking point. I felt a clear prompt: It’s time to reset.

I’ve decided to spend the next few days fasting and praying, not as a punishment, but as a way to refocus on stewarding my temple, reclaiming my quality time with God, and getting my physical health back on track.

The beautiful thing about this timing is that I am at the ideal time in my cycle phase to have a fast. The bible calls us to fast and pray, but as women, we also need to listen to the unique rhythm that God created for us. So when you are considering fasting, it’s important to do it in alignment with your cycle. There is an idea phase to fast, and it just so happens that today is the ideal day for day 1 of a fast in my cycle.

Its amazing how God aligns things so perfectly. I ignored the needs my body had due to the cycle I was in and I strayed from my usual patterns. Then I ended up going crazy on the snacks. And as soon as I realize and repent, I am right in the sweet spot for realigning my body and my spirit with God’s design for me.

3 Lessons from a Sugar-Coated Weekend

1. If you don’t steward the body, you pay the price. When we eat things that don’t honor our design, we experience symptoms that prevent us from living the way we were created to live. Brain fog and exhaustion make it hard to model the patience of Jesus. Furthermore, these choices keep us stuck in a body that feels heavy and sluggish. Stewardship includes reaching for the weight loss goals God has put on our hearts so we can have the energy and longevity to serve our families.

2. One decision is often a Slippery Slope. My sweet mess of a breakfast set the tone for the entire day. Because I didn’t start with nourishment, I was constantly playing catch-up with my hunger. This is how we lose momentum on our health journeys, one quick fix snack leads to a day of indulgence. One disciplined decision in the morning could have protected my goals for the whole day.

3. Lean into the God-Timing. The Bible calls us to fast and pray, and for women, there is actually a biological sweet spot in our cycles where fasting is most effective and least stressful on the body. It just so happens that today (the Monday after my crazy day) is the ideal time in my cycle to begin. I’m taking advantage of this perfect alignment to reset my body, shed the inflammation from the weekend, and refocus my spirit.

The Takeaway: Our bodies are the vessels through which we serve, love, and worship. When we treat them with respect and move toward our health goals, we aren’t just dieting, we are practicing spiritual stewardship.

Subscribe now

Stop Fighting Your Design: The Faith-Fueled Guide to Cycle-Aligned Weight Loss

Have you ever had a Tuesday where you felt like a “Super Mom”—crushing your workout and ignoring the kids’ leftover fries—only to find yourself two weeks later feeling bloated, starving, and snapping at everyone?

Alexandra Streicher

Have you ever had a Tuesday where you felt like a “Super Mom”—crushing your workout and ignoring the kids’ leftover fries—only to find yourself two weeks later feeling bloated, starving, and snapping at everyone?

Most mamas spend years judging themselves for these shifts, labeling themselves as “inconsistent” or “weak.” But what if those shifts aren’t character flaws? and 5:00 AM workouts. It’s okay to choose comfort. It’s okay to have the takeout. It’s okay to deviate from the “ideal” plan.

The danger isn’t in the single imperfect choice; it’s in the momentum of those choices. It’s the transition from “I’m pivoting my plans for today” to “I’m no longer checking in with what I actually need.”

The Way Back

The climb back up the slope starts with a single decision. Resetting that first domino. You’ve looked in the mirror and thought, “Here I go again. I’m just not disciplined. I’m so inconsistent.”

Mama, I want to offer you a life-changing reframe: You aren’t inconsistent. You are cyclical.

The Linear Trap

We live in a world designed for “linear” energy. Most fitness plans and diet protocols are based on a 24-hour clock—a rhythm that works great for men, whose hormones remain relatively stable day-to-day. The world tells us we should show up with the exact same intensity, hunger levels, and mood every single morning.

But God didn’t design the female body to be a flat line. He designed us to mirror the beauty of His creation. Just as the earth has four seasons—Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter—God placed a four-phase rhythm inside your body.

<a class="image-link ground of winter or harvest fruit in the middle of spring. No wonder we feel frustrated! When you learn to align your weight loss with your cycle, you stop fighting against the tide and start riding the wave.

The Winter (Menstrual Phase): A time for rest, reflection, and gentle movement.

The Spring (Follicular Phase): A time for new beginnings, creativity, and increasing intensity.

The Summer (Ovulatory Phase): Your peak energy, social confidence, and metabolic strength.

The Fall (Luteal Phase): A time for winding down, nourishing cravings with slow-burning fuels, and practicing deep grace.

Honoring the Design

In Psalm 139, we are told that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” That wonder includes your hormones. Estrogen and Progesterone aren’t your enemies; they are messengers.

When you learn that your hunger naturally increases in the week before your period because your metabolism is actually working harder, you can stop viewing that hunger as a “sin.” It’s a biological signal. When you understand that your energy dips during your period, you can stop calling yourself “lazy” and start calling it “Sabbath rest.”

This week, we are stepping out of the “Worldly Trend” of forced consistency and into the Kingdom Rhythm of biological stewardship. You don’t need to change who you are; you just need to understand how you were made.

Faith-Fueled Action Step: This week, your only job is to become an observer. Stop judging your energy and start noticing it. Ask God to help you see your cycle not as a “curse” of womanhood, but as a divine compass leading you toward a more peaceful relationship with your body.

Want to dive deeper?

Subscribe and listen to this weeks podcast episode!

Subscribe now

The Proverbs 31 Mama: Strong, Nourished, and Energized

Do you ever feel like you’re running on empty?

Alexandra Streicher

Do you ever feel like you’re running on empty? disorder. Recovery led me to a passion for nutrition, but I still felt like I was missing a piece of the puzzle. I became a personal trainer. I fell in love with the grind—the yelling, the pushing, the “no excuses” mentality of the fitness world.

But then, about eight years ago, my body simply stopped.

My systems began shutting down. Doctors were baffled. They couldn’t give me a name for it; they just knew I was dying. The pain was so intense and the exhaustion so deep that I spent every night begging God to just take me home. I didn’t even have the energy to read my Bible. I would just lay there and hold it against my chest, clinging to it like a life raft.

Then, I changed my prayer.

Instead of asking God to take me, I asked Him why He was keeping me here.

That night, He gave me a vision in a dream. He showed me a path where Faith, Fitness, and Nutrition weren’t separate categories of a busy life, but one integrated, fueled existence. He showed me that we aren’t just trying to fit into smaller jeans; we are stewards of the bodies He gave us to carry out His work.

I didn’t just get my health back. I got a calling.

Why I Built This Publication

I created this Substack because the enemy is currently winning the war on a mother’s health—not through laziness, but through comparison, restriction, and discouragement.

The world sells us a version of “healthy” that is rooted in vanity and fueled by self-hatred. It tells us to shrink, to obsess, and to hustle until we’re hollow. The enemy seeks to kill and destroy your confidence and your vitality so that you’re too tired to lead your family.

I am here to tell you that we are taking that territory back.

We aren’t just losing weight to look good in photos. It felt harmless, even productive. I’d tell myself I was gathering ideas, finding new recipes, saving workouts, learning something, having some time with God following pastors. And in the moment, that hour or two of scrolling felt like a mental break.

But the truth?
It wasn’t helping me rest.
It wasn’t helping me grow.
It wasn’t helping me become the woman God was shaping me into.

It was actually harming me.

We convince ourselves that we’re “researching” or “getting inspired,” but let’s be honest, how many of those saved videos have you actually followed through on? How many recipes have you made? How many workouts have you done? How many ideas have you implemented? How many pastors have you heard something “life changing” that you shared with everyone, but then you didn’t make that change.

Meanwhile, that same hour could have been spent reading a book, studying Scripture, moving your body, prepping nourishing food, or simply being present with your family.

When I finally deleted Instagram and Facebook from my phone, I didn’t expect much to change. But what happened shocked me.

Here’s what shifted almost immediately:

I slept better and actually went to bed on time.

My mood lifted.

I had energy and motivation to work out.

I started eating better, without forcing it.

I stopped snacking on chips and sugar.

I snapped at my kids less.

I lost 3 lbs in a single week.

And all I did was remove two apps from my phone.

Sometimes the things holding us back from our health or weight-loss goals aren’t the “big” things. They’re the subtle habits we’ve normalized. The ones we don’t even question because everyone else is doing them too.

I’m not here to tell you to delete your social media today. But I am here to challenge you to take one small step:

Turn off notifications.

Limit yourself to one period of scrolling a day and set a time limit to it.

Or, if you’re feeling bold, delete the apps for a week and see how your mind and body respond.

You might be surprised by how much lighter, clearer, and more grounded you feel.

These days, the only “social” app I keep on my phone is Substack. Because when I consume content, I want it to be meaningful, actionable, and aligned with the woman I’m becoming. Not the woman the algorithm wants me to be.

If you’re craving that same shift you’re in the right place and I am thrilled to be apart of your journey.

Subscribe now

Why Your Muscles Matter to God

our body is not an accident — it’s a sacred temple designed by God to carry you through the beautiful, demanding, and purpose-filled life He’s called you to live.

Alexandra Streicher

our body is not an accident — it’s a sacred temple designed by God to carry you through the beautiful, demanding, and purpose-filled life He’s called you to live.

In this powerful episode, Alexandra reminds every Warrior Mama that building physical strength isn’t about vanity — it’s about worship, stewardship, and equipping yourself to serve your family, community, and Kingdom purpose with energy and endurance.

You’ll discover:
✨ Why your muscles matter to God and what Scripture says about a strong body.
💪 How building strength supports your daily life as a mom, wife, and daughter of the King.
🙏 How to turn every squat, lunge, and power walk into an act of worship and prayer.
💡 Practical, guilt-free ways to build strength at home — no fancy gym required.
❤️ Encouragement to break free from shame, perfectionism, and the lie that it’s too late to care for your temple.

You are not just surviving motherhood — you are more than a conqueror through Him who loves you!
